15-year old Pakistani DOTA 2 Champion: Sumail Hassan Syed

Sumail Hassan Syed, a 15-year old Pakistani from Karachi recently won the DotA 2 Asian championships held in Shanghai, China. The young star rattled the e-gaming world with his spectacular performance in the tournament, helping his team the Evil Geniuses'(EG) attain victory.

The youth apparently was picked  only recently by EG, who themselves are quite a big name in the online game.

EG’s captain said Sumail – who is conveniently known by his in-game alias of ‘Suma1L’ – was brought in after they spotted the “x-factor” in the young Pakistani. EG was so impressed that they took the risk of including the 15-year-old, who had yet to play in a professional competition, on their roster for the world’s second biggest Dota2 tournament, the Dota2 Asian Championships (DAC) .

The trade-off was spectacular though as Sumail played a key role in snagging a victory from the Chinese team Vici Gaming at the DAC grand final in Shanghai, causing his team to win the $1.2 million prize money.

While Pakistani youth have recently made their country proud in disciplines of Engineering and Medicine, etc. It goes to show that their talent is not quite that limited and Sumail has made quite the splash for Pakistan in the e-gaming world.
